With eight peaks exceeding 2,500 m, Fagaras mountains are the highest in Romania. The 75 km mountain ridge is bordered in the west by the valley of the Olt River (Red Tower Pass) and in the east by Bran Pass. The highest peak is Moldoveanu, with 2.544 m (8,346 ft), while the most impressive is Negoiu - 2,535 m (8,317 ft).
