Miraculously surviving the Reformation, the ancient Catholic church frescoes in Malancrav animate and warm nowadays the rather austere atmosphere of the village’s Lutheran church. The church was built in Roman style around 1305 and dominates the village of Malancrav.
The village itself is wonderful. A mixture of cultural richness, of modest and vivid life of peasants, of beautifully, well preserved Saxon houses and an expensive manor: the Apafi mansion, restored by Prince Charles of Wales’ foundation out ruins left behind by Communist collectivization.
