Impeccably preserved throughout its eight centuries of life, the citadel of Sighisoara has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sighisoara is the medieval fortress where a brave, albeit cruel Wallachian prince named Vlad the Impaler was born in 1431.
Vlad the Impaller
Vlad was born in the yellow house next to the famous Clock Tower of Sighisoara, while his father (Prince Vlad Dracul, son of Mircea the Elder, the founder of Cozia Monastery) was in exile.
